San Leandro

Welcome to San Leandro

San Leandro is a diverse city with a strong pride of place. The city’s Mission Statement declares that its purpose is to facilitate excellent recreation and human services that foster a sense of community. Noted for its quiet streets and distinct neighborhoods, San Leandro enjoys great participation from its citizens in the direction of its growth.

The pleasant climate contributes to the year-round availability of all sorts of outdoor recreation, as evidenced by the 450-berth marina and two golf courses. Shopping and dining are plentiful in and around the downtown area, as well as the Marina Square Center and the Bayfair Center.

Early in its history, San Leandro gained fame for its abundance of cherries. In 1909, the harvest was so delicious and bountiful, a Cherry Festival was held, and that tradition continues today.

Located on the eastern shore of the Bay between Oakland and Hayward, San Leandro’s commitment to creating community makes it a great place to live, work, and play.
