Portola Valley gets its name from Gaspar de Portola, the Spanish explorer who led an expedition through the San Francisco Peninsula in 1769. Almost 250 years later, Portola Valley’s flora and fauna, open space, and natural beauty continue to invite exploration.
 
Bordered by sister affluent communities Woodside and Los Altos, Portola Valley’s homes and home sites are expansive and expensive, and much of the land is zoned for equestrian use.
