Pope Valley

Welcome to Pope Valley

Head northeast on the scenic Silverado Trail and you’ll find Pope Valley. It’s a small, unincorporated community east of Calistoga bordering on Lake Berryessa. A slower pace of life is expected and accepted here. The Pope Valley Winery, which dates back to 1897, is a perfect example of taking a virtual trip back in time. The grounds include a hand-dug wine cave, the original farmhouse, a blacksmith workshop, and an unpretentious tasting room.

Pope Valley was named after William Pope, who was granted property in 1841 by acting Governor Manuel Jimeno. The valley is small and located in the Mayacamas Mountains in northern Napa County.

It’s a lovely place to get away, and locals will tell you this is where you can experience authentic “Old Napa.” Take the time to take a look.
