Oakley

Welcome to Oakley

Located in eastern Contra Costa County, Oakley is a relatively new City with historic roots. Only an hour from San Francisco, geographically, Oakley is considered the heart of the California Delta. In the 1970s, it was an agricultural town of about 3,000 residents. Today, the population tops 35,000 and continues to grow due to its affordable real estate.

Incorporated in 1999, Oakley’s history dates back more than 100 years. Originally named for the abundance of oak trees in the region, its new motto is “A Place for Families in the Heart of the Delta.” Proximity to the Delta guarantees an abundance of waterways, outdoor sports, and marinas. Oakley is part of the East Contra Costa Bicycle Plan with existing facilities as well as plans for future expansion.

Oakley’s leadership team strives to preserve its small-town atmosphere while encouraging and developing new industry and employment opportunities. It is a city “on the grow.”
