El Cerrito

Welcome to El Cerrito

El Cerrito is a jewel of a town, nestled between Albany to the south, Richmond to the north, Wildcat Canyon Regional Park to the east, and the Bay to the west. El Cerrito’s rich history, varied topography, pleasant climate and diversity make it a highly desirable place to live.

When it comes to shopping convenience, El Cerrito Plaza gets a gold star, offering just about everything from groceries and fun restaurants to clothing boutiques and essential services. Anchored by Lucky Stores, Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, Trader Joe’s and DVS, whatever you’re looking for, chances are you’ll find it here.

The new Community Center and Swim Park are lovely additions to some of the town’s more classic structures such as the Cerrito Movie Theater. Formerly a speakeasy, the theater now offers a comfy and cozy alternative to the mega-theater complexes. Built in the 1930s, the facility includes a restaurant and bar with sofas and tables for enjoying a movie, a meal and a cocktail.

Neighborhoods cover the gamut from the flats near the Bay up to the hillside homes with amazing panoramic views. Literally translated, El Cerrito means “little hill,” and you couldn’t have those lovely views without lots of them.
