Welcome to Dublin

Dublin sits at the crossroads of the Tri-Valley at I-580 and I-680, about 35 miles north of San Jose and 25 miles southeast of Oakland. The significance of this major crossroads goes back more than two centuries to when it served important stage routes connected to both San Jose and Stockton.

Settlers from Ireland, Michael Murray and Jeremiah Fallon, purchased 1,000 acres and built homes for their families here in 1850. When Alameda County was established in 1853, Murray and Fallon served on the Board of Supervisors. Named after the Irish capital, Dublin was also called Amador and Dougherty’s Station before its incorporation in 1982. Since then, the region has burgeoned with residents, businesses, and commerce.

Locals are actively involved in Dublin and celebrate their pride of place. For example, two family campout events are held each summer at Emerald Glen Park, sponsored by Parks and Community Services. The goal is to create a positive introduction to the wonderful outdoors in an easy and enjoyable manner. Games, campfires, entertainment, and food combine to create and enhance the connection to community and nature.

Residents and businesses alike enjoy the advantages of inhabiting this flourishing city.
