Virginia began her love of real estate in Manhattan, when she purchased a stunning historic home in an 1880's brick row house in Gramercy Park and became the co-op President. In addition she has renovated and sold over seven homes in five states - California, Connecticut, New York, Ohio, and Florida. The architectural style of homes she has dealt with both personally and professionally include brownstones, Victorians, Edwardians, mid-century moderns, lofts, ranch style homes, and "Sear's" Arts and Crafts bungalows. She has experience in all types of home ownership including condos, co-op's, TIC's, and SFH's. She also understands the difficulties of relocation and being a first-time home buyer. No challenge is too big or small, that she won't want to spend time helping you to find the right home for you. Prior to her career in real estate she spent 12 years in financial planning with retailers such as Brooks Brothers, Victoria's Secret, and Williams-Sonoma. Her previous fast-paced career honed her sense of humor, attention to detail and collaborative skills. Virginia Thackwell joined Zephyr Real Estate as a Realtor in 2006, became a Top Producer in 2009 and in 2012 she and fellow Realtor Tim Gullicksen became business partners at Zephyr. She served on the San Francisco Association of Realtors Forms Committee in 2008 and 2009 and from 2010 to the present was appointed to, and served on, the Grievance Committee - this committee reviews complaints against agents regarding adherence to the Realtor Code of Ethics. Prior to college, she was enlisted in the Air Force as a Licensed Customs & Immigrations Inspector and Security Police officer. She went on to achieve her certified Commercial pilot license with both instrument and instructor ratings and has completed multiple cross-country trips including two air races as the pilot-in-command. Additional education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from U.C. Santa Cruz in Economics; and a Certificate of Completion in French from the Sorbonne University, Paris, FR. In her spare time she volunteers with her dog, Fufu, in the SF Animal Assisted Therapy program. She also began sailboat racing in 2014 out of the South Beach Yacht Club and in 2014 she began racing on a Cal 30', Grinin' Bear, out of the South Beach Yacht Club, and then joined Richmond Yacht Club so she could race on her Byte CII, Blinghy Dinghy.
