Nestled between Oakland to the north and Hayward to the south, San Leandro is a friendly city with many unique older homes on tree-lined streets and a beautiful shoreline. San Leandro is a community with a safe small town feel and plenty of shopping, several East Bay regional parks, and close access to the Oakland Airport and BART. San Leandro is home to the North Face, Ghirardelli, Otis Spunkmeyer and a Maxwell House operated coffee roasting plant. The delightful aroma of chocolate permeates through the neighborhood. In addition to the quiet streets, San Leandro offers satisfying recreational activities with a Marina and two golf courses, and many verdant parks....

San Leandro is a diverse city with strong pride of place. The city’s Mission Statement declares that its purpose is to facilitate excellent recreation and human services that foster a sense of community. Noted for its quiet streets and distinct neighborhoods, San Leandro enjoys great participation from its citizens in the direction of its growth.

The pleasant climate contributes to the year-round availability of all sorts of outdoor recreation as evidenced by the 450-berth marina and two golf courses. Shopping and dining are plentiful in and around the downtown area as well as the Marina Square Center and the Bayfair Center.

Early in its history, San Leandro became quite famous for its abundance of cherries. In 1909, the harvest was so delicious and bountiful, a Cherry Festival was held and that tradition continues on today.
