A large residential neighborhood far removed from the more heavily trafficked Inner Mission, the Outer Mission reflects similar characteristics to its suburban neighbors on both sides. Its distinct charm echoes with a diverse array of residents and low-key vibe. ...
The Outer Mission is true to its name. Its southern border defines part of the dividing line between San Francisco and Daly City. Crocker Amazon is to its east and Mission Street stretches out along its eastern border, while its western side is fully aligned with the I-280 freeway.
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) runs through the neighborhood from the very top to the very bottom, with a BART station just outside its northern line. Muni metro lines run through and along the neighborhood, offering residents the chance to utilize public transportation for all of their needs. Still, a large part of the population owns automobiles, making parking in the neighborhood difficult if you don’t have a driveway or garage.
Relative to other parts of San Francisco, housing prices and rents are still considered affordable in this neighborhood. Single-family houses cover the narrowly-laid-out neighborhood offering housing options for a variety of residents. The Outer Mission is one of the most ethnically diverse districts in all of San Francisco, a welcoming feature for many residents.
