About San Francisco - Lakeshore
The community of Lakeshore was developed in the mid-1900s, first with single-family detached homes with larger multi-unit condominium developments popping up later.
With a massive amount of undeveloped land, Lakeshore is a unique and rare part of the city. Within its borders, at the northwestern edge, is the San Francisco Zoo, one of the main attractions. Also in this picturesque corner of the city you can find Lake Merced, the heart of the neighborhood. This area offers residents trails for jogging, hiking, and biking. There are also three golf courses in and around Lakeshore including Harding Park, The Olympic Club and the San Francisco Golf Club.
While the tranquil neighborhood may appear secluded, public transportation runs through and around the area and its proximity to the I-280 freeway provides residents quick access to work commutes or out-of-town adventures. Shopping for residents can be done at the small Lakeshore Plaza or in the very nearby Stonestown neighborhood.
Lakeshore provides an exclusive outdoor experience in a big city, with a small residential corridor. The neighborhood is truly one San Francisco’s hidden gems.
