About Balboa Terrace

Balboa Terrace is homeowners’ territory, a stylish neighborhood with a sophisticated pedigree. Filled with longtime residents, the community is close-knit, in some ways reflecting the ambiance of a small town. ...

The streets are lined with well-kept single-family homes with beautifully manicured landscaping and one of the most concentrated plantings of squat palm trees in the city. Balboa Terrace dates back to the 1920s when famed architect Harold Stoner crafted the neighborhood in a Storybook style. The homes of Balboa Terrace range from single-story English cottages to grand Spanish Colonial and Italian Renaissance Revival styles, each one unique and no two exactly alike.

The quiet and luxurious neighborhood offers all of the amenities of the city with few of the hassles. Residents are only a short walk to Ocean Avenue, bubbling with stores and restaurants. Also nearby for small shops, the cinema, services and heaps of restaurants is Stonestown Galleria and the West Portal neighborhood.

On the west side of the neighborhood sits Commodore Sloat Elementary School, boasting high scores across the board. Neighboring the school, in a similarly attractive Mission-style building, is the YMCA, another gathering place cherished by the lively suburban-style community.

Balboa Terrace is home to some of the most coveted addresses in San Francisco. The homes are charming and distinctive and the residents cheerful, with an overall tranquil vibe.
