About Redwood City

Redwood City, county seat for San Mateo County, has its city’s slogan on the Broadway arches downtown: “Climate Best By Government Test.” A government-conducted survey pre-dating World War I declared Redwood City’s climate tied for the world’s best with the Canary Islands and North Africa’s Mediterranean Coast. The City boasts an average of 255 sunny days a year....

Another of Redwood City’s claims to fame is that it is “home of the largest Independence Day Parade in California.” (Some sources claim “west of the Mississippi,” and others “in North America”). Whichever of those is accurate, the parade has been a part of Independence Day celebrations here since 1939.

Redwood City is a leading business and industrial center on the Peninsula, conveniently situated between Highways 101 and 280. The only deepwater port in San Francisco Bay is the Port of Redwood City, also home to the Seaport Conference Center.

From charming smaller homes in the Roosevelt district to new bay view condo developments downtown, you’ll find a spectrum of residential opportunities here. In addition, Redwood City is undergoing a major revitalization effort, and the historic courthouse is now Redwood Courthouse Square, a venue hosting many community and cultural events. Shopping, dining and entertaining are abundant and diverse. Residents and visitors alike find much to appreciate and enjoy in Redwood City.
