About Pleasant Hill

Pleasant Hill is between Concord and Walnut Creek on I-680 and provides convenient access to Oakland and San Francisco via Highway 24. As its name would suggest, it is a pleasant community incorporated in 1961 and is home to John F. Kennedy University and Diablo Valley College. ...

Lacking a designated downtown, the city began planning redevelopment around Monument and Contra Costa Boulevards in 1991. In 2000, Pleasant Hill officially claimed this area as its downtown with the opening of a large retail campus designed to resemble Main Street, USA. The large outdoor complex has an abundance of shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities with meandering walkways, idyllic landscape, water features and a refreshingly retro feeling of camaraderie and community.

Near the epicenter of the charming downtown is the historical Soldiers Memorial Monument, erected in 1927 on Monument Boulevard.

With an array of housing options and charm to spare, Pleasant Hill certainly lives up to its name.
